Things That Got Jammed into My Brain:

1. Go out to lunch with people!

2. Google works very well.

3. I value verbal communication

4. Take as much as you can from everyone, in terms of knowledge. It felt like a feeding frenzy for me.

5. I partially rate my time at BlueCadet based on the amount of web banners I had to do… 0. Thusly, giving BlueCadet nothing but flying colors.

Now, who can be more ambiguous than me?! NO ONE! A lot of good that synopsis did ya!

Well, I haven’t blogg’d in 2 weeks, but I am going to wrap this up anyways. I finished the upenn.bluecadet.com/videos.html site well enough to hand off, so that is a mini internal celebration for me. The client was quite … choosy.. in their opinion of things about it. C’est la vie.

The last week or so, I have been working on a flash file that is a compilation of my Flash ‘expertise’. My personal tutorial dictionary, if you will. It has some crazy things going on in it… including a super sweet particle trail that follows your mouse (props to Jason!) But really, there are quite a few usable bits in there that will be fun to play around with.

Next on the list for Flash is to finish up / rewrite Camden’s VC Database.. You can see the project in progress at www.camdenasay.com/vcdb . This should be done within a week or two if we get lucky.

After that comes an attempt at a website for my sister, as mostly just an exercise. This should be in the neighborhood of the end of the semester, but hopefully sooner.

Sorry to bore all of my 3 viewers with this snoozefest of a blog. I don’t think I uploaded even 1 picture. All the exciting stuff is in the links page anyways!

Thursday and Friday went well, and it is now two weeks down! I feel a lot more comfortable here now and I have real things to do. It is nice to feel like you have a purpose.

Friday night I stayed in Philadelphia with Keith and Camden and we went out with Stacey and some peeps from my office. We had dinner at the Urban Saloon and then hung out at Stacey’s apartment and had a barrel of laughs with everyone.

Snow DAY! I got to work from home. I have been working on a scrollbar component in Flash and it is very challenging to find the right tutorial. I started with this one here, but the example doesnt even work.

I am close to solving it though, I have everything right except the content connected to the bar. I will probably be working on this for the next day or so trying to figure it out, then I get to move on to a video player. Excite!

Tuesday it is. Finished up the HTML side of the UPenn site and we are currently integrating it into the beta.

Needless to say, it was a bit rocky getting rid of all the files I was not using, but in the end it all got sorted out. You can now check out my hard work at http://upenn.bluecadet.com/videos.html on the test server. I will also be updating my “About” section with some very good links, almost every day, stay tuned!

Week two starts off right! Today was much more productive than Friday. I fixed a bunch of small stuff on the site I have been working on and I am almost done with it for now. This week I will be helping Stacey with assets for a Flash mural site and also making components of the site, like a scroll bar and other odds and ends. It sounds like a nice way to ease into the program and start understanding the structure of the site. Perhaps I should start posting some pictures to make this blog more interesting… Yeah.. I’m working on that..

ReaLife 3.0.5.

The end of the work week.

Hallelujah. I woke up to a couple inches of snow on the ground, with it still coming down. That always makes getting out of bed a bit of a challenge. The DV110 wasn’t phased at all, as it still took 110 minutes to get to work. Right on time.

Today was a frustrating day. Everything I did, or tried to do never seemed to work out the way I wanted it to. I padiddled some Javascript and CSS until my fingers went numb. After 7 hours of jamming out on the non-musical keyboard, I met up with some friends and we headed over to a bar where Dan Lisowski was showing a few pieces of artwork. It was a cool spot, overrun by hipsters and overgrown beards. We stayed for a little while and then headed home.

All in all, a pretty exhausting and frustrating day. I’m hoping that RL 3.1.1 will kick off to a better start, than 3.0.5 ended.

ReaLife 3.0.4 was a good installment today. Spent all day looking at a computer screen and solving problems. Hooray! Today I was invited to a meeting to discuss the plan of attack on an upcoming website and how they will structure the page with the designs that they were given. I understood a good bit of it for not seeing it previously, and even when there was a bunch of flash-nerd-knowledge being thrown around, I was following along.

The days are going by quite quickly, so I guess that means I am having fun.

Next week should bring some interesting and new things (the new site) so that will be exciting around Stacey’s desk. And since I am so close, it will no doubt hit me as well. I know it will!

ReaLife 3.0.3 went well today. DV110 was a bit better because we were able to catch a later train and consequently, more Z’s. Today I got to keep my lunch money (score!) and continued to work on the HTML side of the UPenn site. Progress is going well and I feel like I am accomplishing things, so that is positive. Soon I will be researching a super fancy (to me) Javascript function for the videos of the site, so stay tuned for that.

There is not much more to update you on.. Sorry my life is so boring.
